Pre-reading. Growth of OTs in Private Practice: Opportunities and Implications. Hosted by Rashid Kashani

Rashid Kashani will be hosting OTalk2US on Sunday 21st April 2013 and has written this blog post as pre reading.

Private Practice is a growing option for OTs. In looking at a comparison of what OTs did for private practice in Canada in the 1990s (http://www.caot.ca/cjot_pdfs/cjot57/57.3bridle.pdf),
versus the past decade (http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/qc/job_futures/statistics/3143.shtml), there is evidence of rapid growth and expanding opportunities. Despite these positive trends, private practice remains an area some deem out of reach to them in their practice. The focus of this discussion will be about international trends in private practice, implications of these trends on both a public and private healthcare system and provide a forum to support those considering entering this area of OT.

Rashid has been working as an OT for 17 years and has spent 14 of them working in both private practice and for the publicly funded healthcare system.

Major Erik Johnson @ArmyOTGuy – OT in Military Settings. April 14th 2013.

Special thanks to our guest host Major Erik Johnson and to all who participated in this lively chat.
